Your EPAV Desk account lives in the cabinet at https://my.epavdesk.com. Registering there builds a support site for you, and from the cabinet you then manage the site's address, the panel password, your plan and the payment.
Registering in the cabinet
Open https://my.epavdesk.com and stay on the Sign up tab. Enter the Company name, your Email and a Password of eight characters or more, then press Create cabinet. No card is needed. The cabinet signs you in straight away, so you can start before you open any email.
One email address can register only one cabinet.
Confirming your email
Right after registration the cabinet sends you an email with a confirmation link. Open it: your site opens only after you confirm, and until then EPAV sends you no other email. EPAV writes to this address about your site and about billing, and the EPAV mailbox sends emails to your own address only after it is confirmed. The link works for two days. Until you confirm, the cabinet shows Email not confirmed. We have sent you a link. next to a Send again link.
If the email is not confirmed within 7 days of registration, the site built for you is deleted without any email. Confirming later builds a new one.
Getting your site
Registration starts building a site for you right away; it usually takes about a minute. While it builds, the cabinet shows the stage, from 1 to 5, and refreshes by itself. The site opens as soon as it is built and your email is confirmed, whichever comes last: the cabinet shows its address and panel password, and an email titled Your platform is ready arrives with the address. If building takes longer than usual, the cabinet says so, and EPAV is notified and finishes it. A cabinet holds exactly one site.
What a new site contains
A new site is built for you and is ready to answer visitors from the start. The panel language is taken from your browser when it is English, Russian, Ukrainian or Estonian, and English otherwise; the names below are the English ones and follow that language.
- the support panel, where your account has the Admin role and signs in with your registration email;
- your company name from registration as the Site name, which appears on the panel sign-in page and in emails to your agents (change it under Admin > Workspace > General);
- a website chat inbox called Live chat, with the code for your pages;
- an AI assistant called Support assistant, which answers in the visitor's language;
- a team called First line, which receives the conversations the assistant hands over, with you in it, and the SLA policy Default (first response within 1 hour, resolution within 24 hours, no alerts);
- the time zone of your browser for the site, and business hours of Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 18:00, which the team uses for its SLA deadlines (change them under Admin > Workspace > Business hours);
- the panel language you can change later, see First steps checklist.
If you registered from the AI chat button on epavai.com, the website chat starts in the AI chat without agents mode, see AI chat without agents.
Your first address
At first the site opens at a temporary technical address, and the cabinet marks it as a temporary address, the permanent one is on its way. About a minute and a half later the permanent address replaces it: a neutral name under epavdesk.com, such as lyra-42.epavdesk.com. Your company name is left out on purpose, because site addresses end up in public certificate logs where anyone can read them. Wait for the permanent address before you paste the chat code on your website, because the code contains the address.
Choosing another name under epavdesk.com
Open the Support address block in the cabinet; it appears once the permanent address is ready. Under Another name under our domain, type a name made of latin letters, digits and hyphens, from 3 to 32 characters long, that does not start or end with a hyphen. Press Take it and confirm. EPAV adds the DNS records itself, and the new address is ready in about a minute. Names reserved by EPAV and names already used by another site cannot be taken.
Using your own domain
Under Your own domain in the Support address block, type a subdomain of your website, such as support.example.com, press Get the records and confirm. The cabinet shows two DNS records, a CNAME and a TXT, each with its Name, its Value and a Copy button. Add both wherever your domain's DNS is managed: at your registrar, in Cloudflare or at your hosting. In Cloudflare, both DNS only and proxied records work.
Waiting for your domain
New DNS records take from a few minutes to a day to spread. The cabinet checks them by itself and switches the address as soon as the records are in place and the security certificate is issued, so you can close the page; an email titled Your support address has changed tells you when it is done. To check, open your domain, for example https://support.example.com: it should show the panel sign-in page without any certificate warning. If you want your own domain, start with it early, because of this wait.
One address request at a time
The cabinet handles one address request at a time. While a request waits, both buttons are disabled, the cabinet names the address it is waiting for, and a Cancel the request link appears. Cancelling keeps your current address.
What changes with the address
After the switch the panel opens at the new address. Old addresses keep working for as long as the site is yours, so the chat on your website does not break. The cabinet also writes the new address into Root URL under Admin > Workspace > General: links in emails to your agents and the browser sign-in of your own AI assistant use it. Change the address in the cabinet, not in that field.
Replacing the chat code after an address change
The chat code on your website still contains the old address, so replace it with the new code. Take the code from the Widget on the site step in the cabinet, tab On a website, or in the panel under Admin > Channel > Inboxes, inbox Live chat, tab Setup, section Installation, and paste it in place of the old code on every page. Do the same with the chat code in Confluence, from the tab In Confluence of the same cabinet step, if you use it. A mobile app keeps working with the old address; put the new one into the chat settings of your next app release. See Live chat widget.
What the cabinet shows
The cabinet page consists of blocks:
- at the top, your company, the Panel address with its Login and Password, and your plan with its state and the Pay or Manage billing and cancel button;
- Support address, described above;
- Model: which model answers and how long its answers take, see AI providers and your own model;
- Setup: the steps Knowledge base, Widget on the site and Channels, see First steps checklist;
- Emails to your agents: the EPAV mailbox, see Notifications and the EPAV mailbox;
- What is included and what you have used, with the Plans list, see Plans, limits and billing;
- Bot at work: conversations, answers, resolved conversations and the average rating since the first day of the month. Under the figures, Why the bot handed a conversation to a person or did not answer counts the reasons since the first of the month (no answer in the knowledge base, the visitor asked for a person, the reply limit ran out and so on), and Questions the bot found no answer to lists the most frequent of them, the same question written differently counted once. Add answers to these questions to the knowledge base and the bot starts answering them right after indexing.
The line at the bottom of the page says when the figures were collected, and under it Delete my account and data sends a deletion request, see Plans, limits and billing. The globe button with the language code, at the top of the page, changes the language of the cabinet.
The setup guide
In the Channels step, Full guide opens a step by step setup guide at https://my.epavdesk.com/guide. It opens without signing in, so you can send the link to a colleague or to your developer.
