The panel of EPAV Desk, with its channels, is a modified version of libredesk, an open-source help desk licensed under the GNU Affero General Public License version 3 (AGPL-3.0). Every site offers the source code of exactly the version it runs at your support address followed by /source, without signing in.
What is open source
The open-source program is the panel itself and everything that runs inside it: the channels, the conversations and contacts, the knowledge base, the logic of the AI assistant and the help center. EPAV's changes to it are published together with the original code, under the same AGPL-3.0 license. The original project is libredesk by its own authors, at https://github.com/abhinavxd/libredesk.
Downloading the source
Open your support address followed by /source, for example https://lyra-42.epavdesk.com/source. Anyone who can reach your site can download it, without signing in. The download is a compressed archive named libredesk-source.tar.gz. It is packed from the same files the running program was built from, so it matches your version exactly, and it includes FORK.md, the numbered list of EPAV's changes.
Where the link appears
A Source code link is part of these pages:
- the panel sign-in page, at the bottom, together with the license name AGPL-3.0;
- the Admin menu of the panel, at the top next to the version number;
- the footer of your help center;
- the footer of other public pages of your site, such as the page where customers rate a conversation.
These links are fixed parts of the pages, with no setting to hide them. The chat widget on your website has no source link: it shows a small "Powered by EPAV Desk" line instead, which you can hide under Admin > Channel > Inboxes, inbox Live chat, tab Appearance, switch Show powered by.
What the archive contains
The archive holds program code only. Your conversations, contacts, articles, settings, passwords and keys are not in it: they stay in your site's database and are never packed into the archive. The full license text is the LICENSE file at the top of the archive.
EPAV's own services are separate programs
Some parts of EPAV Desk are not in the archive, because they are separate programs that EPAV writes and runs itself:
- the AI gateway, which routes requests to the models;
- the knowledge server behind Connect your AI;
- the cabinet at https://my.epavdesk.com;
- the chat widget program that visitors see on your website, with its Designer.
These programs talk to your panel through its API and common web protocols, the way any outside application would, and are not part of the open-source program.
Your name on your pages
Your site shows your own name and logo, which you set in the panel. The original product's name was turned into settings rather than replaced with EPAV's, so the texts of the panel do not use the name libredesk; you find it in the source archive.
